Sturminster and Hinton Angling Association was formed on 17th August 1905 and it continues to offer good fishing on the upper reaches of the Dorset Stour as well as having Exchange Ticket arrangements with several clubs in the area and lake fishing for full members on two excellent fisheries nearby; S&HAA are also members of the Somerset Levels Amalgamated Clubs. Much of the river continues to be leased courtesy of the Association's President Mr G.A.L-F Pitt-Rivers, with other riparian owners allowing access at various points along the river.
